We've had an epic winter in northern New Mexico. The day I painted this it was so warm, and the snow was melting so fast that the Jemez River reached flood stage down canyon. The river was so impressive! I had to drive to Albuquerque and took the scenic route on Highway 4 both ways. On the way home I stopped at the Valles Caldera and made this pastel painting of the lingering snow.
